    Year 9 Australian Multicultural Food Influences looks at how different cultures have influenced the foods we eat today. Students investigate food traditions, ingredients and cooking techniques from a range of cultures while developing practical cooking skills. Through preparing and evaluating a variety of dishes, students explore how migration, cultural diversity and changing food trends have shaped contemporary Australian cuisine.

    The study of Australian Multicultural Food Influences provides pathways into Food Studies, Hospitality and Tourism. Students develop skills that can lead to careers as a kitchen hand, waiter, cook. Further study can lead to specialisation in areas such as chef, pastry cook, baker, maitre d, restaurant manager, barista, food stylist, food writer, tourism or event coordinator.
