Design Textiles

Description

Students will be able to negotiate their subject focus by choosing from craft items (fabric decoration, patchwork, embroidery, etc.) soft furnishings and/or garment construction. Practical models are a major expectation of this subject with some related theory.

Unit Topics

Fabrics cost TBA based upon students selection and size of project. Design, production evaluation process.

Skill Development

Use of tools, equipment and machines to produce their chosen project.

Possible Assessment Tasks

• Produce a garment or article of their choice
• Research of historical changes of textiles uses through history
