CONGRATULATIONS MR BREW ON 35 YEARS OF TEACHING

Cropped Steve

Popular Leongatha Secondary College Teacher, Stephen Brew celebrated this special milestone with family and friends at the Teacher Awards Ceremony held at the Warragul Country Club on Tuesday night.

Steve began his career in Sealake in 1987, then moving to Warragul, Korumburra and then arriving at Leongatha Secondary College in 2015.  Steve’s love of theatre saw him immediately launch into directing ‘Grease’ and he immediately struck a rapport with staff and students as an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher; teaching predominantly English and Drama.

Steve has had an amazing influence on not only his students, but his own children, who have, in his own words “ joined the noble profession.” He has helped shape the lives of many young adults throughout his career. Students and staff admire him for his friendly manner and passion for teaching.

Principal Brad Hutchinson delivered this special message…

“Congratulations on being recognised for your 35 years of service, Steve.

It is a wonderful honour that we know you have worked incredibly hard for and thank you for being such a valuable member of our LSC community.

We are very proud of you and applaud the determination and effort you have demonstrated during your time working with us as part of the LSC community.

Your students are always put first in everything that you do and it is absolutely recognised and appreciated by them all. You are definitely a “favourite” of many and it just goes to show how important the development of relationships are with your students, to see that they can be the best version of themselves and achieve the best outcomes possible.

Thank you for all of your contributions to our work efforts and in particular with our work regarding improving literacy outcomes, where we have drawn upon your experience many times. So too, are we lucky to have such a wonderful MC that we can call upon to lift all our spirits and ensure our coming together as a staff, whether it is for an end of year function or professional learning activity, has plenty of fun and laughter present.

That is the way education should be Steve, and you always look to make learning fun; for everyone!

For that, every student has learned from you over your 35 years, should be grateful. And, I am sure that they are.

Well done once again. It is a wonderful achievement you are being recognised for this evening.

We’re looking forward to continuing to work with you at least for the next few years to come!”

Brad and the staff at LSC.
