Amidst the culmination of hard work, dedication, and unwavering commitment, Leongatha Secondary College stands proud to celebrate the extraordinary achievements of our Year 12 students in their Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE and VCE VM) results.
The collective effort, resilience, and passion exhibited by our students has led to remarkable outcomes, showcasing not only academic prowess but also the embodiment of our college’s commitment to fostering holistic development and nurturing future leaders and outstanding community members.
This year, our students have soared to incredible heights, exemplifying excellence in various subject areas. With a staggering number of high achievers and exceptional performances across diverse disciplines, their results are a testament to their diligence and the guidance provided by our devoted educators here at the college.
Beyond the numbers and statistics lie stories of perseverance, determination and the unwavering support from both LSC staff and families. These outstanding achievements of our Year 12 cohort reflect the strength of our college community. It’s a reflection of the environment that fosters growth, embraces challenges, and instills a passion for lifelong learning, no matter what pathway our young people choose.
We have spoken with our 2023 Dux Lachlan Gill, who is extremely excited about his ATAR of 99.3 and his pathway into his future studies. This outstanding ATAR is a testament to Lachie’s dedication to his study over several years and it places him in the top 1% of the state.
Campbell Jackson was another of the college’s high-achieving students this year, accomplishing an ATAR of 96.55, with 2023 College Leader – Lily Hume, also being proud to achieve an ATAR of 85.45. In fact, right across subjects delivered at the college, many outstanding results were also achieved across a variety of individual subjects; ten study scores of over 40 and the overall mean study score for all subjects lifting several marks to 29.4.
There is the sense that the dedicated efforts that the college has been placing into supporting students to improve their study skills and habits over the past several years is now looking to have come to fruition, with 55% of our students achieving a study score of 30 or over, in one or more subjects. It is extremely exciting for these individual students and just rewards for their efforts, and so too, is it an indication that the teaching strategies being adopted within and across our college are increasingly having a substantial impact on student’s outcomes.
VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM)
We are also extremely proud of our year 12 VCE VM students who this year, have all successfully achieved their VCE Vocational Major Certificates. We have had ten year 12 students secure apprenticeships and eleven students in Year 11 also gain apprenticeships within the local community. Several students have secured traineeships in a variety of areas and many students have been able to secure full-time employment in our local community, as well. We wish all of those beginning in these roles or heading onto further study, the very best with their chosen pathway.
The success of our Year 12 students isn’t solely measured in scores and grades, but in the knowledge gained, the friendships formed, and the character developed throughout their journey at Leongatha Secondary College. These achievements mark the beginning of a new chapter, one filled with endless possibilities and opportunities.
As we celebrate these accomplishments, we also acknowledge the invaluable role played by our educators. Their dedication, mentorship, and tireless efforts have been instrumental in guiding our students towards success. The unwavering support from parents and families has been a cornerstone in nurturing these exceptional individuals and we thank them for entrusted us with their young person’s education.
To our graduating class of VCE and VCE VM students: your achievements have set a benchmark, inspiring future generations and reminding us all of the heights that can be achieved through hard work and determination. You are the embodiment of our college’s values, and we are immensely proud of each and every one of you. As you embark on new adventures, remember that you will forever remain an integral part of the Leongatha Secondary College family.
