Today we attended a cooking class with a group of senior students. Each of us joined a small group to prepare a typical Japanese meal. We prepared a simple baked salmon with all sorts of capsicum, onion and mushrooms. We also made miso soup to complement our fish, which was served with a bowl of rice.
We then all sat down with our cooking buddies to enjoy the scrumptious meal and some friendly conversation. This simple traditional Japanese meal was delicious.
After lunch we were driven to Kamiichi, which is near the mountains. We visited the Kakizawa Community Centre, and were taught the traditional Japanese method for making pottery. Each of us created a bowl that will be fired and then sent home to Australia next month.
