Congratulations to Chloe Stoops of Year 11 who was chosen with 25 other students in Victoria to participate in the National Schools Constitutional Convention, on Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 May 2022 at The Hotel Windsor, Melbourne.

The Convention provides an excellent opportunity for students to debate constitutional issues. The topic for the 2022 Convention was: Do we need an Australian Bill of Rights?

Chloe participated enthusiastically throughout the convention, speaking at the ‘soapbox’ and asking questions of the keynote presenters. Students participated in workshops that challenged their thinking and assisted them in their persuasive language skills, in additional to gaining significant legal and political knowledge.

Students voted on the plebiscite at the end of the convention with the response to the question: do we need an Australian Bill of Rights? Yes: 60%. No 40%
